Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Countfu iOS app and the countfu.com website, operated under the name countfu.com ("Countfu", "we", "us"). By using the app or the website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

The service

Countfu is listening practice for Chinese numbers. It plays spoken Standard Mandarin numbers, prices, dates, times, phone numbers, and related content for you to transcribe as digits, and it tracks your mistakes, accuracy, and progress so you can improve. The service is provided on an "as is" basis and we may add, change, or remove features over time.

No account needed

Countfu has no accounts and no login. You use the app directly on your device, and your progress syncs privately through your own iCloud account if you are signed in to iCloud. You are responsible for the security of your Apple device and your Apple ID. You agree to use the service only for your own personal learning.

countfu Pro subscription and payment

Some features are part of countfu Pro, an auto-renewable subscription sold through Apple's App Store using In-App Purchase. Countfu Pro is offered as a weekly plan and an annual plan; the annual plan may include a free introductory trial. The following terms apply, in line with Apple's requirements for auto-renewable subscriptions:

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• The subscription automatically renews at the price and interval shown at purchase unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your Apple ID account settings after purchase (Settings, your name, Subscriptions). Countfu cannot cancel or change your subscription for you.
• If a free trial is offered, any unused portion of that trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
• Prices are shown before purchase and may vary by region and over time.

Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store's policy; we are not able to issue refunds directly. Where you have a statutory right to a refund or cancellation, that right is not affected by these Terms.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service. In particular, you agree not to: probe, scan, or interfere with the service or its infrastructure; copy, scrape, resell, or redistribute the audio or other content; use automated means to access the service except as expressly permitted; or use the service in any way that is unlawful or that infringes the rights of others.

Intellectual property

The Countfu name, the app, the website, the audio, and the other content we provide are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the service for your own learning while these Terms are in effect. The data you generate by using the app (your answers, progress, and statistics) stays on your device and in your own iCloud and is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers

Countfu is a self-study aid. We do not guarantee any particular learning outcome, exam result, or level of fluency. The service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Countfu will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including certain rights you may have as a consumer.

Termination

You may stop using the service at any time by deleting the app; if you have a subscription, cancel it through your Apple ID account settings. We may end your access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the service is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence that apply to you.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
